Fault zone in tunnel construction successfully stabilised with WILLKAT^® Foam - PSW Limberg III, Kaprun

While tunnelling the headrace tunnel for the Limberg III cavern power plant, the tunnel boring machine encountered an unstable fault zone with loose rock - a critical intervention point for the project.

Using 20 targeted injection boreholes (Ø 25 mm), the material was consolidated with WILLKAT^® Foam - our highly reactive, foaming silicate resin that takes effect in just a few minutes, regardless of the water content.

The result: tunnelling could be continued quickly, safely and without additional measures.
