Purchasing & Export Officer (m/f/d) with career progression opportunities

F. Willich GmbH + Co. KG is a medium-sized family-run business in the chemical industry with over 140 years’ experience in the development and production of specialised materials. We are now looking for someone to join our team in the Purchasing & Export department at our Dortmund site!

If you have already gained some initial experience in this field and are keen to improve processes, take on responsibility and play an active role in shaping our procurement and export processes, we look forward to getting to know you.

What we expect

  • You ensure that our requirements are met at all times: you create purchase orders, track them and keep a close eye on delivery dates.
  • You analyse stock movements and monitor minimum and maximum stock levels for selected products to ensure optimal product availability.
  • Using Power BI and our ERP system, you will optimise our procurement processes in a data-driven, forward-looking and cost-effective manner.
  • You will take charge of operational supplier management – from tracking deadlines and resolving outstanding issues to communication and handling complaints.
  • You will assist with price negotiations and contribute to contract management.
  • You will identify risks along our supply chain, assess them and work on appropriate measures to minimise them.
  • In addition, you will independently handle the export clearance of (dangerous goods) shipments and ensure that all legal requirements, as well as transport and documentation requirements, are met.
  • In doing so, you will coordinate collaboration with freight forwarders, authorities and internal departments, ensuring smooth international shipping operations.
  • Where required, you will also support your team with order processing.

Your skills

  • Completed commercial apprenticeship, ideally as an industrial clerk (m/f/d), or technical apprenticeship with additional commercial qualifications
  • Initial experience in purchasing, materials management or scheduling, or solid practical exposure (e.g. work placement/co-operative study programme)
  • Initial experience in export or customs clearance (e.g. work placement/co-operative study programme)
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems; interest in data-driven processes (Power BI a plus)
  • Technical interest and good commercial understanding, particularly a confident handling of figures
  • Structured, solution-oriented and independent working style
  • High level of customer and service orientation
  • Team spirit, friendly and confident manner, reliability and resilience
  • Very good written and spoken German and English

We offer

  • A family-run, medium-sized company – operating internationally, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, stability and short decision-making processes
  • A role with genuine potential for development: you will help to build up the procurement function independently over the long term
  • Varied tasks, creative freedom and responsibility right from the start
  • Appreciation, open communication and a long-term working relationship
  • Attractive remuneration, flexible working hours, social and additional benefits
  • Company health insurance, training opportunities and modern work equipment
  • A team that sticks together, supports one another and tackles challenges together

And: We also enjoy celebrating together!
