Silicate resins
WILLKAT®and WILLBOLT® injection resins are two-component silicate resin systems. They consist of a water glass component on side A and a modified isocyanate on side B. They are processed in a volume ratio of 1:1. WILLKAT®and WILLBOLT® are ideal for a wide range of tasks involving rock and soil stabilization, cavity filling, anchor bonding, and even the underpressing of solid structures. Depending on the task at hand (filling, stabilizing, sealing, anchoring), either high-foaming or non-foaming products are used.
Water plays no role in the reaction; the products are emulsions that do not react with water, for example, by foaming, but rather displace the water. As silicate resins, they cure without foaming even under water. The viscosity of the products also depends on the respective application and varies from low viscosity to stable, thixotropic products, for example, when used as anchor resin.
Silicate resin systems are characterized by the fact that, in contrast to hard to tough-elastic polyurethane resins, they can be easily machined after application. This means that areas consolidated with WILLKAT® FOAM, for example, can be easily removed mechanically from the rock formation without further breakage occurring during tunneling due to excessive consolidation.
